DESCRIPTION

Harmony was a freeware independent game project and solo effort by Thomas van der Velden. It won a Cacoward in 2009, and utilised the Vanilla Doom engine to its maximum potential.

The original soundtrack for the 2009 release consisted of three electronic tracks by Kyū. These three pieces were used across all 11 levels.

Starting in early 2011, I spent a few months composing a new original MIDI soundtrack (with Thomas’s permission) for it. This culminated in a selection of sixteen brand-new tracks composed by me specifically for the game.

Much time was  taken to refine the tracks before they officially reached completion – this project was to be my biggest musical venture at the time, and the quality of each individual track was paramount. I believed the use of MIDI tracks added a touch of “nostalgia factor” to the game itself – good old MIDI files really sell the feeling of playing a lost old-school shooter from the 90s.

I still consider this musical project to be one of my finest, so please check this out!
