DESCRIPTION
November 2018 saw “NaNoWADMo” hosted for the first time, a month-long event on Doomworld that allowed creative Doomers to devote the entire month to getting something done. This seemed an excellent idea to me, and a great opportunity to challenge myself.
Deathless was an exercise in creating an Ultimate Doom megawad in the slimmest timeframe I possibly could. I needed to make 27 levels to fill three new episodes, and started blocking things out at midnight on November 1st. I documented my progress on the NaNoWADMo Discord server, getting feedback and encouragement from the other participants. After some time, the 27th map was thing-placed and balanced at about midnight 10th Nov, so the total build time for this is nine days. Those nine days were a weird, weird blur.
Crispy Doom is most highly recommended to play this, but any modern port should handle it just fine – you may just need to tweak compatibility settings for the authentic Vanilla experience. The complevel is 2.
This WAD is featured as an add-on in Bethesda’s official port of DOOM + DOOM II!
